Our Story: A Legacy in Every Layer

We are Urban Handicraft — a homegrown brand born from generations of love for traditional Indian art. Our journey began with our grandparents, who breathed life into clay through pottery, shaping stories in every piece. Our father, Abubakar Mara, a master Lippan artist, carried that legacy forward alongside our mother, Shirin Mara, infusing each design with mud-and-mirror magic.

As the next generation, Iram and Kaif, we grew up surrounded by this rich artistry. But when the COVID-19 pandemic struck, everything paused — for nearly a year there were no exhibitions, no orders, no creative rhythm.

One day, driven by love and hope, we began sharing our family’s artwork on social media. What started as a simple showcase turned into a movement. Over two years, people across India embraced our creations — recognizing the heritage, the craftsmanship, and the soul in every mirror and tray.

Today, we offer you authentic Lippan art, the traditional mural craft of Gujarat’s Kutch. Each piece is handcrafted with natural clay, mud, and mirrors — born from our tradition, made for your home.
